Pre-Auction Analysis: May 17th 2016, Sotheby’s Geneva

This Vivid Pink has quite a low inner-grade (grade 2). The undertone is warm, leaning towards the orange spectrum (grade 2). The color dispersion is very high and earned a grade of 4. The GIA photograph in the Sotheby’s catalogue is the most accurate reference for this stone’s undertone (p 358-359).

Pre-Auction Analysis: May 18th 2016, Christie’s Geneva

It is very rare to see a diamond with a 1:54 ratio and low depth percentage of 59.9%, which should be considered a feature, as it makes the diamond appear larger than its actual size. The color is very dark and could easily be mistaken a Deep Blue.

On November 11th, Sotheby’s will feature ‘The Blue Moon’, a 12.03 ct, cushion cut, Fancy Vivid Blue, IF diamond. Only once every three or four years do we see an important blue stone of this caliber at auction. The high estimate is $4.5 million per carat.

Christie’s upcoming Magnificent Jewels auction on December 10th in New York will feature a 21.30 ct, oval-shaped, Fancy Light Pink, VS1, antique-cut Golconda diamond ring. The stone is described as ‘outstandingly pink and of superior quality’, with a high estimate of $280,000 price per carat.
